As the rain is pouring down on my house right now, I feel a sense of peace that I not only have a storm shelter but I have a prepared storm shelter. Inside of the shelter is a weather radio, flashlights, candles, matches, water, a first aid kit and blankets.

A few years ago I was taking cover with my kids from a tornado I remember thinking, with the birth of smartphones, weather radios were a thing of the past. However, as my kids and I sat in the bathtub, the electricity flickered taking out the loud television that was broadcasting the news. That’s part scary and part cool all at the same time. It is normally $70 but right now is only $44.89.
