Kitchen surfaces like stoves, light fixtures and ceiling fans can get greasy. Make your own degreaser and remove that sticky film from your kitchen. Just spray and wipe, that’s it. Use this solution even on light fixtures and ceiling fans to remove the stubborn grease. I used to just use a wet rag, but that never worked.
Keep it mixed in a bottle, handy for a quick cleaning.
How to Make a Homemade Degreaser
1 part distilled white vinegar
1 part water
1 tbsp. degreaser soap like Dawn or store brand
Combine in a sprayer bottle and it’s ready to be used.
Gotta love how easy it is to use and it works great! Now if it could clean itself, that would be magical.

I like the sounds of this recipe but what is the “part”? Are you using a cup of vinegar and water, a half cup to the 1 tbsp of Dawn? I would assume if it is too watered down it won’t work as well.
Thanks for your help!

A “part” of each is equal amounts – 1 cup or 1/2 cup of each ingredient.
Kayla says
Yes, but a “part” could be anything. Would 1 gallon of water and 1 gallon of vinegar still need 1 Tablespoon of dishwashing liquid? The problem is that the recipe is written in mixed units, with subjective “parts” as well as the objective “1 Tablespoon”.

1 tbsp soap per spray bottle along with equal amounts of water and vinegar to fill the bottle.

Spray bottles come in all different sizes. I have a 2 ounce spray bottle. I have a 32 ounce spray bottle and several sizes in between. The measurements of part is not very helpful in this situation.

I used 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup of water + 1 tbsp of Dawn. Worked fairly well but still took a lot of scrubbing. I will increase the Dawn next time.
Thanks Degreaser.

A lot of annoying “literalists” on here. NYC is filled with them. Specific and very annoying.
Estimate the equal parts and recipes in general, man. It’ll work.
