Homemade Fabric Softener with Conditioner
I’ve always been a huge fan of making my own laundry detergent and fabric softener. I’ve been making my own fabric softener for awhile using this recipe. Recently, I’ve been adding more essential oils to the recipe in order to give it a stronger smell, this is especially true when I’m giving it away as a gift (with the recipe card attached).
{Homemade Fabric Softener}
6 Cups Water
2 Cups Hair Conditioner (You can use any kind, I did have the Suave Rosemary Mint on hand so I used that.)
3 Cups White Vinegar
Essential Oils (optional)
Directions:
When you buy the conditioner at the store, keep in mind you’ll be needing 16oz. I noticed my Suave bottle was only 12oz so I had to shorten some of the other ingredients just a bit. Simply stir the ingredients together then pour them in jars or another storage container. I added Lavender essential oil (about 20 drops) to the fabric softener which gives it a much stronger scent especially since you’re likely using a scented hair conditioner too.
You can use this in your fabric softener dispenser or soak a washcloth (and then wring it out well) in it and throw the washcloth in your dryer with your other clothing.
Overall, I really liked this one because I really wanted my clothing to come out with a fresh smell and I seemed to have achieved that with this homemade fabric softener.
Keep in mind, I use it with homemade laundry detergent which I also add essential oils too. Yep, we’re smelling good around here!

Red, White & Blueberry Lemonade
Can you believe the Fourth of July is almost here? Crazy how fast the summer goes by. I love strawberry lemonade as in, I LOVE it. I decided to mess around with the recipe and make something that is delicious and super cute to have for our cookout this year. I honestly think this is the best lemonade I’ve made and it’s packed full of fruit too which makes it even better!
Ingredients:
2 liters water
1 pint strawberries
1 pkg blueberries
5 lemons
1 cup Turbinado Sugar (or other sugar alternative)
Ice
Directions:
First, wash and dry the strawberries and set aside in a bowl. Then, fill a pitcher with 2 liters water and squeeze in the lemon juice from about 5 lemons. You can use more or less lemons if you’d like. Stir the water well and add in the sugar and blueberries. I use Turbinado Sugar from Sugar in the Raw but, you can use whatever sugar alternative you’d like or real sugar. Just make sure to stir until dissolved.
With your hands or a potato masher, squish the strawberries. I washed my hands, grabbed the strawberries and squeezed them in the bowl. Then, add that bowl of squished strawberries to the lemonade. You’ll have a great mixture of lemonade, blueberries and strawberries. Finally, add the ice and serve.
I like to serve it in a mason jar simply because everything is cuter in a mason jar. But when it’s just me, I pour it into a Rib Crib cup and drink it up! 😉
