BBB Warns Consumers About SaveMore.com

Several weeks ago, I featured a few deals from SaveMore.com. This is a new daily deal website that has popped up offering half price gift certificates. There are tons and tons of websites just like SaveMore.com and all of my dealings with such websites have been just fine. However, after posting about SaveMore.com, I've had nothing but an inbox full of complaints. Many of you have written in saying you were unable to locate your gift certificate and also could not get in touch with the company.

Since those complaints starting pouring in, I have not posted another deal from SaveMore.com. Last night, one of our volunteers sent me this article from the BBB warning consumers about SaveMore.com.

Please read the article to learn more about that daily deal website and if you have not received a purchased voucher, you may want to think about filing a complaint.

Here's some advice directly from the BBB:

Trust your instincts – Don’t hesitate to pass up a deal that’s too good to be true --- it could cost you dearly in the end.

Use trustworthy Web sites – Check out businesses at www.bbb.org. If there’s a BBB Accredited Business seal on the seller’s website, click on it to verify.

Pay with a credit card – Under federal law you can dispute the charges if you don’t receive the item, or there are unauthorized charges on your credit card.

Keep documentation of your order – Print the final confirmation page or email confirmation, and keep for future reference and as a record of the purchase.

Check your credit card statements often – Don’t wait for paper statements; either call credit card companies or check online regularly.

Know your rights – Federal law requires that orders made by mail, phone or online be shipped by the date promised or, if no delivery time was stated, within 30 days. If the goods aren’t shipped on time, the shopper can cancel and demand a refund. There is no general three-day cancellation right, but consumers do have the right to reject merchandise if it’s defective or was misrepresented. Otherwise, it’s the company’s policies that determine if the shopper can cancel the purchase and receive a refund or credit.

Daily deal websites are an amazing way to save money and I use them on a regular basis, don't let this one company scare you away from good deals. There are tons of reputable daily deal websites available and we will continue to post those deals.
